About

“You had a blog? That strikes me as litigation waiting to happen,” –Chris Varcoe

“You’re a problem, Jennifer. You’re a problem because you’re too blunt and direct for girls, too smart and independent for most guys and too damned annoyed with stupidity and incompetence to just shut the fuck up and get along. There will be people who will love you for it. There are lots of others who won’t. You get to decide who matters more to you.” –Jordan Heath-Rawlings

Every day, Jen Gerson tries to avoid causing too much trouble as she hacks it in the word mines of the Calgary Herald. A general assignment reporter by birth, she spent her early twenties and the better part of a once-healthy liver at the Toronto Star, Globe and Mail and the National, a newspaper in Abu Dhabi. It’s all a little more complicated than this, of course, and the full story can be purchased for the price of a Steam Whistle and a few pointed questions. The cheap and the lazy will have to settle for the free, decontextualized web version of my biography.

Obviously, views expressed herein do not reflect those anyone at the Herald would admit to.
